You are Coming from Another Peppol Provider, What Do You Need to Do?
If you are changing your PEPPOL service provider to Marosa, you do not need to re-register your company in the Peppol network. However, your Service Metadata Publisher (SMP) records must be updated correctly to ensure uninterrupted document exchange .
This guide explains the practical steps you need to follow to complete a smooth migration.
Before you start
Each Peppol participant is identified by a Participant ID, made up of:
- An identifier scheme (e.g. 0088 for a national company number)
- An identifier value (your company’s registration or VAT number)
Example: 0088:123456789
Your Participant ID will remain the same when moving to VATify.
Step 1 – Identify your migration scenario
There are two possible scenarios:
- Scenario A – Same SMP, new service provider: Only the Access Point and certificates change. The SMP itself remains the same .
- Scenario B – New SMP and new service provider: Both the SMP and the service provider change. This requires coordination with the Peppol Service Metadata Locator (SML) .
If you are unsure which scenario applies, contact Marosa before proceeding.
Step 2 – Request the migration code (if changing SMP)
If you are moving to a new SMP:
- Contact your current Peppol service provider.
- Request the migration code for your Participant ID.
- Share this migration code securely with Marosa.
The migration is initiated by the new SMP, Marosa, using this code.
Step 3 – Recreate and validate your Service Group
Your Service Group must be correctly configured in the new SMP before go-live.
Marosa will ensure:
- Your existing document types and process identifiers are maintained
- Your Access Point endpoints are updated
- New transport certificates are correctly published
Step 4 – Confirm SML update
If your SMP changes:
- Marosa will notify the SML of the migration.
- The SML will update the link between your Participant ID and the new SMP .
This ensures other PEPPOL participants can continue to discover your details.
Key points to remember
- Your Participant ID does not change
- Migration requires coordination between SMPs and, in some cases, the SML
If you require assistance at any stage, contact the MAROSA support team for guidance before proceeding.
